It was very much love at first sight when I first laid eyes on the Zoeva Basic Moment Eyeshadow Palette at the Sephora Showcase event a few months bag, so I was positively giddy with excitement when I discovered this in the goodie bag afterwards!
First of all, I think the packaging is simply gorgeous. I do wish there was a mirror, but Zoeva’s palettes are compact cardboard numbers that really are great for makeup bags so I’m not holding anything against that. It’s a gorgeous pink/nude and white ombré packaging which I think is beautiful, and contains 12 beautiful neutral shadows inside.
I think this palette is really quite understated. The eyeshadows are a little hit and miss with the swatches, and they are of a lighter pigment on the eyes – I used a mixture of brands of brushes when trialling this for review, and found that you really needed to work with the palette to build the pigment up – I found this with the shimmer shades especially, needing a few layers and some setting spray to get a light foiled effect.
It’s not my favourite palette ever, but I also don’t hate it. It’s a good neutral, every day work appropriate eyeshadow palette. There’s a mixture of satin matte and shimmer shades that can pull together a variety of nice daytime looks together in a short period of time. It’s definitely not an in-your-face pigment packed palette, but there’s a time and a place for this and I think it’s simplistic and beautiful, and can see myself reaching for this on a very regular basis.
UGH THAT DARK GREENY BROWN SHIMMER COLOUR IS TO DIE FOR.

They’re all so pretty!
