Urban Decay Naked Heat Eyeshadow Palette | Pale Swatches & Review

I am a girl who absolutely loves warm eyeshadows to death, but I find that I’m so pale that a lot of them just make me appear even more pale – which isn’t something that you want when you’re currently paler than NC15! When the Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette was announced on social media my eyes immediately widened. There were mixed opinions on the palette – some beauty girls were saying it swatched and applied poorly and others were saying that it was heavenly. I was going to see if my partner who’s currently in the US could pick it up for me during his trip – but it was released as a one day exclusive for Mecca Beauty Loop Level 3 members (and then a week or two later for anyone as a one day exclusive) and I didn’t think twice before purchasing it. On opening it, I was worried that again I’d be too pale to use it…. But let’s see, shall we?

First things first, the packaging is incredible ! The palette comes in a slide-out box similar to Zoeva palettes rather than a traditional Urban Decay palette box, and you lift up the palette to reveal burnt out matches which I actually really love! On the flip side of the matches are flaming roses, which I actually really like!

The palette itself is packaged in gorgeous heavenly warm shades. It isn’t a tin or cardboard packaging, but a lighter plastic casing which I actually really like. There’s also a decent sized little mirror to use when applying makeup, as well as the usual brush – which of course I haven’t yet used!

Now – to the palette itself! Inside are 12 gorgeously gorgeous warm-toned eyeshadows, ranging from mattes to shimmers in brown/gold/red/bronzey tones. Each of the shades is definitely unique, however the two lighter warm brown shades are quite similar in comparison to the others. There’s a great range of shades – a paler highlighting shade, a slightly cooler transition shade, some warm browns, matte reds and some beautiful shimmer shades. I love that this palette doesn’t have a black because I never use black eyeshadows – however the shade ‘Ember’, the last shade in the palette, is a black/warm orange shimmer hybrid that makes the prettiest smoky eye when combined with a pale highlighting shade on the inner third of the lid!

Who said these weren’t pigmented? Especially for Urban Decay, I found that these eyeshadows were quite pigmented and easy to blend. Being paler than NC15 pale, the two lightest shades I found didn’t swatch too well on my skin because they were closer to my natural skintone, but would work a little better on more light-medium skintones. Those two require a little more work on my skin, but the others are one swatch shades. One swatch! The matte shades I found slightly stiffer to swatch, but that isn’t a problem at all when blending them into the skin. The shimmer shades are gorgeously pigmented, and with a light spray of water give the most incredible foiled effect.

For me, I find that eyeshadow tends to fade fairly easily. However, with the use of my Nars Eyeshadow Primer (that I use daily anyway and still find fading) this lasted from application at 7am to removal at 10pm and I couldn’t notice it having faded at all – maybe slightly less foiled on the sparkly shades, but the colour and pigmentation was still there 15 hours later. That was on my first use of the palette, and I’ve used it probably 5-7 times since then and still find that it gives the same result each time.

In case you couldn’t tell – this is a product that I truly and genuinely absolutely love. I was a little wary that being so pale it wouldn’t suit, but this is a warm toned eyeshadow palette that will easily work on any skintone! When this is formally released I 110% recommend purchasing it – I daresay you won’t be disappointed!
