I’ve been really loving a lightweight base recently. Since my skin has finally started clearing up and only has some pesky scarring left behind, I’ve been feeling a lot more confident with less on my face. When I’m working/studying from home of a day, I’ve been using a lighter base to make myself feel a bit more ‘put together’ and ready for the day!
These are the three I’ve been leaning towards most recently. A CC Cream, a BB Cream and a Powder foundation. Each that I love for different reasons.
The It Cosmetics CC Cream is an old favourite by now. I received a sample back in January of last year and was so impressed! It feels so lightweight on the skin, almost as if there’s nothing there, but gives a medium buildable coverage that looks luminous and healthy on the skin. It’s perfect for when I’m home for most of the day, but need to leave briefly to grab something from the supermarket or pick something up from the post office. I do find, however, that it does tend to separate on my nose after a few hours.
The Thalgo BB Cream* is now a bit too dark for me since we’ve lost summer, however with my Body Shop Lightening Drops it’s still an every day staple. This is predominantly what I’ve been wearing daily at home. It gives a light-medium coverage but feels so light on the skin. It gives a nice, subtle glow to the cheeks and has fantastic lasting power – I can apply at 9am and remove at 9pm and it’s still as good as it was when I first applied it!
Mac Studio Fix Powder has long been a staple for me as a setting powder for lighter coverage foundations, but I’ve recently been loving it as a powder foundation. Whilst this does give me the lightest coverage of the three, I’ve been loving it for weekends – when I’m headed out for a quick breakfast and want something I can use and be out of the house quickly. It doesn’t need much blending, only a quick buff of a few layers and you’re good to go. I’ve been really appreciating that recently!
If you’re looking for a lightweight, comfortable base product – look no further than these three! There will be a product/shade to suit everyone!
I bought the IT Cosmetics CC cream when I was in America in Feb and oh my – I freaking love it! Such great coverage for something that feels so lightweight. I love the glowy finish though it doesn’t control oil the best!

How fantastic is it ! I’ve definitely found the same with the oil situation, I think because it’s so dewy it makes any oil look worse ! It’s still so beautiful though !
