Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons Palette Swatches & Review | Australia

You guys. The moment I saw sneak peeks of this palette on Instagram I knew I needed to have it in my life. I think the hearts are just simply adorable, and the colours really called to me! I was lucky enough to get it as a gift right before Christmas, and let me tell you it hasn’t let me down! I picked this up from Sephora in the United States because like most releases, it wasn’t available in Australia yet and I needed my hands on it! It will be launching at Mecca Maxima in stores and online February 23rd.

Let’s talk packaging. The box is gorgeous, similar to the previous Chocolate Bar & Semi Sweet palettes. The pink hearts on the palette itself took a bit of warming up for me. It’s not my favourite packaging in the world, but it’s quite cute really! It’s very sturdy packaging and has a mirror inside. I think this one would be a good travel palette! It’s up against my Sigma E40 brush so you can see the size of the palette – not too shabby! It also comes with a guide from Too Faced with instructions on three different looks.

Next, the colours. It definitely appears at first glance to be a darker palette than its predecessors, however some of the shades show up lighter than they look. There are a few pops of colour, and a heap of good transition shades. This palette would be ideal for someone who loves their pinks and browns with a little bit of colour to play around with – aka myself!

Swatch time! This is the top row of the palette. Left to right, the shadows are Almond Truffle; Satin Sheets; Sprinkles; Molasses Chip; Malted.

Can we talk about Molasses Chip for a minute? Holy wow, that baby is pigmented! Each of these swatches is built up 2-3 times apart from Molasses Chip. It reminds me a lot of the Makeup Geek Foiled eyeshadow formula in its appearance and pigmentation. Satin Sheets is a gorgeous shimmery highlight shade, one of the two larger shades in the palette, and a gorgeous inner corner highlight! The pink in Satin Sheets is absolutely gorgeous, and Almond Truffle and Malted each make gorgeous transition/crease shades, Malted also being amazing for creating a brown smokey eye look with the palette.

Second row of the palette. Left to right, the shadows are Cashew Chew; Cotton Candy; Café Au Lait; Bordeaux; Mocha; Black Currant.

In the pan, Café Au Lait looked more like a duochrome similar to the Mac Blue Brown pigment, however I was pleasantly surprised that it swatched and applied more as a gold and it’s hands down one of my favourite shades in the palette. The last three shades were really hard to swatch, Bordeaux and Mocha being matte, and Black Currant being quite glittery.

Third row of the palette. Left to right, the shadows are Dark Truffle; Pecan Praline; Totally Fetch; Earl Grey; Divinity.

Dark Truffle has a lot more sparkle to it than what shows up in the swatches. I love the name of Totally Fetch, the Mean Girls lover in me is so happy for Gretchen! Earl Grey is a bluey-green shimmery shade that is a little scary for me, and Divinity is the other large shade in the palette, being a matte highlight shade, perfect for setting eyeshadow primer or as a browbone highlight.

I really do like this palette. It has a great variety of shimmers and mattes, and a gorgeous colour range. Whilst I did have difficulty swatching some of the shades, that difficulty doesn’t transfer onto application on the lid. They all have the smooth application and ease to blend that you have come to know and love from Too Faced’s eyeshadows, and the chocolate scent is just heavenly! (Or torturous to those on a diet!)

For me, this palette is an absolute must have and a definite recommendation to you beauty lovers out there! This is definitely one to have. Australian girls, this is released after Valentine’s Day, so I’d suggest asking for a Mecca gift card from your significant other so you get the best gift ever! Definitely get your hands on it if you can, you won’t regret it!

So pretty!! Swatches look pretty good too! I’m with you, sometimes I have trouble getting the swatch to look pigmented but then apply to the lids and its perfect! Will definitely keep my eye out for this one! <3

I don’t know how to do it ! My swatches are always without primer so I might try it with primer next time and see if it makes a difference ! It’s an amazing palette, definitely grab it if you can! x

When I first saw photos of this palette I actually wasn’t that drawn to the shades! But, everyone’s been loving it and some of those shades swatched are gorgeous…Molasses Chip!! I still may pass on this because the Peaches palette is the one I really want!

Yes I was the same ! I wasn’t a huge fan of the pink hearts but I fell in love with the swatches ! Molasses Chip is simply gorgeous, I am wearing it today!
