Highlighters are undoubtedly one of my favourite makeup items but also one of the items I struggle to find shades of that aren’t too dark for my pale complexion. I’m NC15 pale at the best of times, and so often I’ll purchase a new highlighter to find that side on it looks like I’ve applied a stripe of bronzer instead – it’s honestly unfair! Recently, I’ve found three new highlighters (technically four!) that are incredibly flattering on pale skin.
Colourpop Cosmetics Here Kitty Kitty – purchased for the shade description and of course, the name, this highlighter has been a favourite since I first opened the box. It is a beautiful intense golden highlighter that is so flattering on pale skin I can hardly believe it – it also suits more medium skin tones as well – it’s truly a phenomenal highlighter! Lasts all day without fading and without any chunky flakes of glitter.
CoverFX Pressed Illuminator in Moonlight – the pressed version of the famous Custom Enhancer Drops, this is a little less pigmented and more buildable than it’s liquid counterpart and a shade that blends seamlessly into the skin, highlighting all the necessary areas on the face without emphasising too much texture. It’s rare to find a formula as good as this in a highlighter!
Tarte Cosmetics Pro to Glow Contour and Highlight – the two powder shades in this contour and highlight kit are absolutely phenomenal. When I first opened the palette I was nervous because of how dark the bronzer shade appeared to be, but was instantly smitten when applying the highlight shades on my cheeks. Easily worn alone or together, there’s a pigmented glow from first application – it’s the type of highlight you see from the other side of the room when someone walks into a restaurant, I can’t express my love enough in words!
As you can see from the swatches, none of these overly accentuate any texture on the skin and don’t appear too dark for my skin – these swatches are of course unedited, which shows just how flattering they are!
I love each of these highlighter shades dearly and they are what I’ve been leaning towards for the last few months! Perfect for pale or lighter skin tones!
