Somerfield Beauty Hair Mask Review

Recently I was given the opportunity to trial a newer hair mask to the beauty scene from Somerfield Beauty.

Their products are made in South Korea – which we all know is absolutely booming as a beauty mecca at the moment so I was very excited to try it out!

They advertise to be organic, eco-friendly and use premium natural extracts and are sulphate, paraben and cruelty free and their ‘mission’ is to provide a premium product that focussed on natural and organic ingredients that promotes the reversal of visible signs of hair damage.

All in all, the product sounded amazing and I was really excited to try it out! It couldn’t have arrived at my door at a better time, as I’d just been trialling a new haircare range for a post… let’s just say that it did not agree with my hair one little bit and I needed some serious TLC!

Their range includes hair masks (for colour treated/damaged hair or just damaged, like I have featured) as well as protein boosters that can be used alongside their masks for greater results. The cap allows for heat to be trapped inside to let the formula sink into the hair faster – I’ve always used a shower cap when using conditioner or treatments in the shower so it’s good to know I’m going down the right path!

The directions are on the back of each mask (you get 3 in a packet) and the prep work is easy – shampoo the hair and lightly ring out your hair – so you’re not dripping wet but also you don’t want your hair to be dry.

This is my hair before – it doesn’t look as bad as it felt. My scalp was oily and irritated and my ends dry and knotty – everywhere.

Even Gypsy didn’t approve of what the other products had done to it! I quickly jumped in the shower and shampooed my hair. The protein booster was SO easy to use – I squeezed the water out of my hair and then proceeded to run it all through my hair from roots to ends. I usually find that ‘one treatment’ sized products never have enough product in them – but this wasn’t an issue for me, if anything there was a bit much! And the mask…

Let’s just say that Gypsy’s look of annoyance did mirror how I felt for the first little while. I have a decent amount of hair but also a weird shaped head (thanks parents!) and I found it SO difficult to put on – even worse than a swimming cap. I had to get my partner to help me get it around my head while I held onto it and he was in charge of putting all my hair inside and taping it up – so let’s blame him for just how dodgy it looks! I don’t always/often have somebody home to help me so it is slightly impractical – but in saying that I do have a giant head so I know it won’t be an issue for everyone!

I then (after cuddling Gyps of course) massaged my head slightly to get the cream into my hair as the instructions specified. After approximately 15 minutes it was back into the shower to rinse it out. I let my hair naturally dry (as I usually do) and then straightened it as per my usual routine.

Now whilst my hair needs some serious colour treatment (I’m counting down the days!) I am SO impressed with how my hair looked afterwards! It appeared almost shiny (which is rare for my level of damage) and so unbelievably soft to the touch. It was one of those hair products that I knew whilst rinsing it out that would work for me.

My hair doesn’t always feel soft straight out of the shower (usually softens as it dries) but it felt soft while wet – I can’t describe it ! From how my scalp and hair looked and felt to this in a few hours was pretty impressive to me.

The excellent thing is I noticed my hair still looked just as good after my next washes – which doesn’t often happen with a once off treatment unless I’ve been to the salon. It seriously corrected the issues that I was having thanks to the other haircare brand that I was trialling and I couldn’t be any more grateful.

In case you can’t tell – my honest overall impression is extremely positive. Whilst a little fiddly, this treatment is 110% worth it for the change it made to my hair. I’ve used another one of my caps since and it has made such a difference to my hair – it reminds me a lot of the ‘cream bath’ treatment I had and loved while I was in Bali. I thought the idea was a bit of a gimmick to begin with but I’m an absolute CONVERT to this way of life.

If you’re interested in trying out Somerfield Beauty products yourself (and why wouldn’t you with these results?) they’ve given me the code ‘BLACKANDWHITEGUIDE10‘ to get you 10% off – why not use the chance to save money?

Your hair looks great! And its so good it you can just wrap the mask on your head and out of the way. I’ll have to check this out for my damaged hair.
