The day that my recent Sephora Haul arrived I was showing the items to a friend who was at my house, and we went online to discover that Sephora Collection items were now being stocked at Luxola. Fastforward thirty minutes and there was an email in my inbox from Luxola, asking if I’d like to sample some products and write about my experience – I feel like it’s fate, because I was already planning my wishlist!
Since then, Luxola.com/au has launched into Sephora.com.au, and stocks a huge variety of Sephora Australia products as well as products that Luxola sold – think Kat Von D, Tarte, Sephora Collection… The list continues! Sephora have launched their website to expand from beyond bricks and mortar – perfect for those like me who don’t have a Sephora closeby!
So keep in mind that these photos are all taken with the Luxola packaging, yet they are now Sephora. (I’d retake but all products have been used extensively)
I feel like Sephora Collection products aren’t given as much credit, or are ignored for fancier brands such as Makeup Forever and Tarte. Sephora Collection are the “home brand” of Sephora, but they have some amazing gems! I’ve picked up a few things from past orders and visits to Sephora Sydney – I have a lipstick that I love, their travel sets are fantastic and the face masks are amazing!
My items were shipped from Singapore with Aramex, and were delivered by a local courier company – they also arrived incredibly quickly! Everything came in layers of bubble wrap for protection, in a padded white shipping envelope. I picked up three items – the Sephora Collection Smoothing Primer*, the Sephora Collection Color Adapting Lip Balm* and the Sephora Collection It Palette Nude* – all items I had tried out at Sephora Pitt Street in January but just didn’t fit into my budget at the time.
The Sephora Collection Smoothing Primer* is a fantastic little primer and one that I’m so glad I have in my collection! It is a silicone-like primer and is smoothing and mattifying on my skin. It is perfect to use during ‘that time of the month’ when my skin is oilier than a deep fryer, it helps to make my makeup last all day without an oil seepage, and helps my skin look and feel more even than it is! It’s cased in a super cute clear bottle, I think the simplicity in the packaging is gorgeous. At $17, it’s a really affordable primer, and I think is a definite dupe for the L’Oreal version, so you’re saving yourself some good money!
The next item I picked up was the Sephora Collection Color Adapting Lip Balm*. In the tube it looks like a soft baby pink, and it swatches similarly on my hand, however it changes colour when on my lips. It’s a colour that supposedly adapts to the pigment of your lips, and looks different on every person, which I’m inclined to agree with. I got two of my friends to wear it at the same time as me, and it looked different on all three of us. It feels quite moisturising on the lips too, and has become a go-to lip product for me while I’m working because it’s moisturising and super easy to reapply on the go – nothing worse than applying lipstick in a rush and finding it all on your teeth later! This retails for $17.
The last item I picked up is the Sephora Collection It Palette Nude*. Yes I know, another neutral eyeshadow palette – I have issues! This is such an appealing palette, with a variety of lighter and more purple/grey neutral shades, as well as a brush and pencil eyeliner.
The colours vary in pigmentation, as you can see by the swatches on my hand, but they all blend really nicely on my eyelids. I haven’t used the eyeliner that it comes with because I rarely wear eyeliner, but I have used the brush it comes with multiple times and find that it picks up the perfect amount of eyeshadow – this brush has become a staple in my brush collection! It isn’t the most pigmented eyeshadow palette I’ve ever tried, but it is incredibly easy to work with – something I’d definitely recommend for someone just starting out with makeup! Retails for $43.
Overall, in case you couldn’t tell, I’m super happy with the items that I picked out! I spent about an hour culling down my wishlist and I know that I made the correct choices! The primer and lip balm have become regular staples for me, and the palette has easily slipped into my weekly rotation!
I’m so incredibly glad Sephora Australia have finally launched their website – it’s so exciting to now have access to these brands at an easier, more affordable location! Happy shopping guys! Let me know what you pick up!
(This post was written in collaboration with Luxola/Sephora.com.au, this does not and never will affect my opinions on the products – honesty forever!)
I constantly spent my half an hour to read this blog’s articles or reviews all the time along with a mug of coffee.
