PuraSonic Neo – Review

A few months ago now at the Glamour Affair event I attended in Sydney I was lucky enough to receive a super generous goodie bag with the PuraSonic Neo inside which I was really happy about, because I was going to purchase the full size from Priceline the next Monday!

The PuraSonic Neo* retails for $49.99 and is available from Priceline and Woolworths in Australia. It comes with the Sensitive Brush Head, and I received the one in Perfectly Pink, which I would have got anyway!

I use this most days after removing my makeup, I use the brush instead of my hands with whichever cleanser I’m using at the time. It has two speeds which I don’t need, I only use the lowest one, and is waterproof so I tend to mostly use it in the shower when I’m leaving conditioner in my hair!

Now I remove my makeup usually with a makeup wipe and then go over it with micellar water. You’d think all of the makeup would be removed after that, but you’d be wrong. Using just my hands I can’t really tell how much makeup residue has been left on my skin but using the white brush head leaves NOTHING to the imagination, in fact the first time I used the brush I was absolutely disgusted at how much it managed to clean off my face, the brush turned orange!

I unfortunately did go through the dreaded ‘purge’, where my skin broke out after a few days of usage. It’s said to be that your skin purges all of the nasty stuff that’s inside your pores because they’re more open than normal because of the brush, but I don’t really know if that’s the truth. The breakouts weren’t particularly nasty and they went away within a week so it wasn’t a huge issue for me personally.

After turning it on, the brush stays on for a minute before automatically turning off. It also vibrates at certain time intervals as a way of telling you when to move on. This is just a suggestion based on the average user, but I mostly ignore this and use it for 10-15 seconds on my forehead, each cheek and chin and nose area because that’s what works for me!

I’ve been using it for about two months now, and I can definitely see an improvement in my skin. My skin’s overall texture is a lot smoother, and I don’t notice as much redness in my cheeks. I don’t have as many clogged pores and breakouts are less frequent which I’m definitely happy about! My dry patches under my eye and on my eyebrow are also gone, which I’m really impressed about! I definitely attribute it to this brush because for the most part I’ve used the same cleanser with it and noticed a consistent result. I have just picked up a new brush head for about $15 from my local Woolworth’s to use with it because mine is starting to look a little worse for wear!

I’d definitely recommend this brush for someone who wants to test out something like this, who has clogged pores and breakouts or who is just genuinely intrigued to see if it’ll work! I was intrigued, and pleasantly surprised by how this works and what it’s done for my skin. For (just) under $50 you can’t go wrong with the PuraSonic Neo!
