Poni Cosmetics Contouring Kit | Review and Swatches

Something that I’ve been meaning to review forever is the Poni Cosmetics Contouring Kit*. I received this months ago and have been using it on and off and have definitely had enough time to form a solid opinion on it!

I’ll start firstly by saying – I don’t use this as a contour kit. For contouring, I definitely don’t think it’s appropriate. However, I do use it as a face/eye palette and it has a bunch of uses. I’ll elaborate.

Take these swatches in consideration. From bottom to top, I’ve swatched the highlight shade, the bronzing shade, the pink blush and the apricot blush. The highlight shade is gorgeous, it doesn’t swatch very well on my skin but gives a lovely glow – however you do need a light hand and to blend it well as it can be quite glittery! The bronzer shade is definitely not the right shade to contour with, and it is a lot more glittery than I’d use as a bronzer. Darker skintones could probably get away with it, but it just doesn’t work for me. The two blush swatches have been built up, they have the right amount of pigmentation to use on the cheeks softly, but can be built up!

This definitely has a dual purpose as an eyeshadow palette. The bronze shade looks AMAZING on the eyelid, it makes my blue eyes stand out and lasts all day. All of the shades work well on the eyes, the bronze though is definitely my favourite!

Whilst I think being marketed as a contour kit lets this palette down, I love it as a combined face/eye palette! This is something I could take away with me as well as a neutral palette such as the Naked Basics to create eye and face looks while away for a week, all I’d need to add in is a bronzer. I definitely recommend checking it out, especially if you’re a shade or two darker than myself! It retails for $49 and is available here.

That bronze shade is just gorgeous! Definitely the wrong shade to bronze with though.
