Models Prefer Holographic Collection | Swatch and Review

I was so very excited to receive the Models Prefer holographic range in the mail late last year – holographic makeup is something I haven’t really tested out before so I was definitely keen to play around with! As per usual, Models Prefer products are a Priceline created and exclusive brand and their products I believe are all under $30.

There are a LOT of products in the range – and they’re all absolutely gorgeous! I love the packaging – I love the white and the silver and the fact that (with the powder palette being the exception) you can see the shades because of the clear packaging – a major win!

I’ll say that the one ‘problem’ I have had with this range from the beginning is that it is so hard to photograph – I’ve struggled to get the true holographic effect and it is something you truly have to see for yourself to believe !

Firstly, the Holo-Glow Powder Highlighter Palette. This palette contains three different pressed powder highlight shades that I think should work beautifully for a range of skin tones – I just only have myself to test it on!

This was the first of the range that I tested on my face – and I was blown away! As you can see from my swatches the powders have a gorgeous pastel tone to them, however it doesn’t appear crazy on the skin. Instead, in natural lighting it just appears as a subtle highlight on the skin- until you get into the light and then BOOM – a holographic beautiful duo toned magic appears on the cheekbone. I love this because it makes it so wearable for every day with a little element of fun.

Next, the Holo-Gloss Holographic Lip Toppers. The moment I first saw these I thought of the Huda Beauty Lip Strobes – and I can’t wait to compare the two formulas. There are four beautiful shades in this range.

I was a little underwhelmed when I swatched these – let’s face it they just don’t swatch all that well. When I first tried these out on the lips I used one over my trusty Mac Blankety lipstick – and was so impressed. It added a beautiful glittery (without being or feeling chunky on the lips) effect to my lipstick that changed and sparkled in the light. It lasted throughout eating and drinking and for a good 8 hours until I removed the makeup. I’ve since tried it over a lip pencil and a liquid lipstick and they are just as complimentary – but with a creamy lipstick formula is still my favourite.

Next are the Holo Strobe Sticks. I’m of mixed opinion of these guys – the first time I used them I applied them like every other stick Highlight I own – directly from the tube. Unfortunately this lifted off all the makeup underneath which isn’t ideal! For this I’d definitely suggest applying with a finger or a stippling brush as it works much better that way – and I was definitely happy with the subtle glow it provided. I set it with a non-holographic highlighter and still found I could see the effect gently – which is ideal for every day.

Swatches – I’m super fair so the purple toned one didn’t work for me but the pink was beautiful!

Lastly, the Liquid Drops. These weren’t my favourite to use as a highlighter – I found that on my cheekbones it just appeared as glitter which wasn’t ideal for me. I’ve since used them mixed in with foundation and mixed with Moisturiser on a no makeup day and the glow was much more ideal to wear.

I’ve barely used a fifth of a drop for these swatches so you can see they definitely pack a pigment punch! These are really great all over and would be gorgeous as a glossy eyeshadow base as well.

Overall I am definitely a fan of this limited edition holographic line from Models Prefer! Will you be trying anything out from the range?

These are interesting products. I especially like that there is not a strong effect in daylight.

OKAY I NEED THOSE LIP TOPPERS! I love a good intense lip and I feel like these would be great for that, and for more natural looks too!

Wow this range really packs a punch! The glow sticks look more subtle and would be something I’d look into. I also like the sound of the lip toppers if you need that extra glam for after work drinks!

Isn’t it gorgeous! So unassuming but multi-talented – I used the left shade as an inner corner highlight today and I love the dimension it gave to my eye look!
