It’s so strange to think that Mecca turns 20 years young this month – Mecca was first opened today 20 years ago when I was only 2.5! Strange that I only first heard about Mecca a few short years ago – but it’s been a love affair from the get go.
My first trip in store happened around two years ago. Picture me – just recently started my blog with a much tinier following, a hot day, in gym gear with minimal makeup and feeling completely out of my depth. I was in the Melbourne Central Maxima and whilst it took a little while to get some assistance because they were so busy, I loved looking around and playing with everything and the service I did receive was second to none.
Mecca is quite obviously one of my absolute go-to beauty destinations (and are often the first place I go to when I head to other states as we don’t have one in Tasmania!) and have an incredible range of products, from Urban Decay to Tatcha and everything in between!
To celebrate their 20th birthday, Mecca have collaborated with some of their stocked brands to create exclusive products which are live right now on their website. They were kind enough to send me two of the products which I’ve been testing out to share with you guys! Firstly, let’s appreciate the super cute new packaging they’ve brought out to celebrate! And their stickers – I’ll be decorating my 2018 diary with these!
Mecca x Too Faced Funfetti Eyeshadow Palette* – this palette has been previously released by Too Faced (but I’m pretty sure not in Australia?) and has been repackaged to celebrate Mecca’s 20th birthday. The palette is basically my dream – a mixture of natural tones with matte and shimmer shades, which Too Faced do a lot of – but they do it well.
I’ve been trialling this palette for the last week and a bit and I have to say I’m impressed! The shades apply and blend really nicely and the pigment isn’t overwhelming but it also isn’t terrible – I love Too Faced because they’re so easy to use, and this palette is no difference to this! I think it’s an absolutely gorgeous palette that will suit different skintones and ‘skill’ level and I definitely recommend!
They also collaborated with Nars to bring out the Velvet Lip Glide Set – with 6 different travel sized shades to suit everyone. The makeup bag also has ‘Mecca20’ on the inside – I just couldn’t easily take a photo of it, but I think it’s super cute! The Velvet Lip Glide formula is one I really enjoy – I already have the shade Bound and I find that they’re a nice hybrid between a liquid matte lipstick and a gloss – it’s pigmented and lasts well but also isn’t drying and has a sheen to it – I love them!
The set has a gorgeous mixture of nude, pink and red toned lip glides – perfect to add to any collection, or a product to purchase, keep a couple of shades for yourself and share with friends and family for the upcoming holiday gift giving!
These are just two of the products launching – there’s some gorgeous skincare sets, a new Frank Body scrub, a Nars lipstick set and Hourglass palette amongst many others ! In a special Beauty Loop Level 3 Insider Access release last week I picked up two items – the Stila Liquid Lipstick in ‘Mecca’, a beautiful pinky nude shade as well as the Mecca Cosmetica Enlightened Lit From Within illuminator which I’ve wanted ever since I missed its release late last year – you’ll see those on social media very shortly!
There would have been a lot of effort to create this beautiful collection, so kudos to the team at Mecca – and for sharing gifts for their birthday! All products are available to purchase now on their website! Happy birthday Mecca!
