In my recent trip to Sydney, I of course stopped by Mecca Maxima at Westfield Bondi Junction and just had to purchase a few goodies from their new Mecca Max range ! The products are on the more affordable side of things, so I picked up a little variety and thought I’d share my initial thoughts so you know what’s good!
Sunlit Skin Bronzing Powder in Light – I really like this! It’s similar to Nars Laguna in that for me it really works well on my pale skin. It’s a lighter shade that requires building up which I personally prefer for a bronzer because I am so fair it can look muddy if too pigmented from the get go.
Blur Veil Wet & Dry Foundation Powder in Light – I haven’t tried this wet as a foundation by itself yet, but I have used it as a setting Powder and I really quite like it! It doesn’t tend to look too caked on regardless of the base I use it on and looks really nice on the skin.
Skin Halo Diamond Dust in White Gold – a well pigmented and long lasting powder, this I find accentuates the texture on my skin more than most other highlighters which was pretty disappointing ! It does however last extremely well on the face all day. The shade is nice – perhaps leaning a little too white for what I can get away with being so fair, but I do quite like it !
Pout Pop Lipstick in Mean Gal – a very creamy and pigmented lipstick that pulls a more reddy-pink than nude shade on my skin. Lasts okay, not too well around food and drinks but good apart from that! Not at all drying on the lips.
Hot Tips Nail Polish in Molten Magic – I was absolutely drawn to this shade the second I looked at the Mecca Max gondola in store! The swatch below is one layer of product which impressed me from the beginning. I haven’t tried this on my fingernails yet as I still have gel overlays on my natural nails, but it’s on my toes and no chipping five days in!
Mattifying Primer – I also grabbed a little sample container of the mattifying Primer – I’ve only used it once but my nose only started getting oily 12 hours in – that’s a small miracle! You’ll be updated for sure if I end up purchasing the full size.
Swatched bottom-top: highlighter, bronzer, powder, lipstick.
The gorgeous nail polish – you cannot tell me you didn’t fall in love immediately !
Overall, my first impressions of the brand are pretty good ! There are a few little things that I’m obviously not 100% happy with but I think it’s a great starter launch for the brand and I can’t wait to see what products come next!
I am so glad I am not the only one not 100% happy with the products. Do have to say though, i 100% agree about the bronzer! I LOVE It.
Well I mean I’m not unhappy with anything really I’m just being fussy! For the price though I’m definitely impressed.
I’m not happy (or fussed i guess) with the two lip products I got cause they taste like plastic fumes 🙁 but besides that for the price, its decent!
Oh wow ! I’d talk to customer service because I definitely haven’t had that problem !!
