Makeup Revolution First Impressions| 9 Items for UNDER $55!?

A little while ago now I was very much in the ‘treat yourself’ mood but the budget wasn’t really stretching that far. I finally out of curiosity went to the Makeup Revolution website and to my surprise and happiness I was able to get NINE items delivered to my door for under $55 which is an absolute bargain!

Makeup Revolution are an affordable UK beauty brand with an absolute array of products – anything you can think of they probably have! Can’t wait to share with you what I picked up and my thoughts on each item.

For $55 (free shipping!) I picked up an eyeshadow palette, a foundation stick, a concealer, a mascara, a highlighter, a lipstick, a lipgloss, an eyeshadow brush and a setting spray – I don’t think there’s any brand in Australia where you can get all of those items for one small price!

Fast Base Stick Foundation – this sadly I just couldn’t get to work for me! I loved it on the initial swatch – the formula is absolutely creamy and not at all pulling on the skin. That’s where the positives sadly ended – I couldn’t get this to build up! I tried various different applicators and primers/no primer and no matter how I tried I couldn’t pull together coverage or get it to look decent on my skin. I was really disappointed because there are so many amazing reviews of this online! I have the shade F2 here which was a fairly decent shade match actually!

Conceal and Correct C3 – online there tend to be a lot of reviews comparing this to Tarte’s Shape Tape concealer – so naturally I was pretty excited to give this a go – and luckily this didn’t disappoint! While it’s a much lighter consistency than Shape Tape, the formula is fairly pigmented and easy to build under the eye without looking cakey. Like every concealer it settles into my fine lines but it doesn’t crease any further which is a winner for me! C3 is probably still a slight highlight shade on my skin so I’m impressed by the shade range!

Sport Fix Setting Spray – now I really wanted to test this whilst at the gym but I honestly just couldn’t stand the thought of wearing makeup whilst exercising! That being said I have used this a handful of times and it really is a good product especially for the price!

Revolution Rose Gold Lipstick in Chauffeur – a beautiful creamy and easy to wear nude lipstick – I mean for me I couldn’t have asked for anything more! It is a really comfortable lipstick to wear and beautiful packaging.

My Sign Lipgloss in Capricorn – now sadly this is out of stock, but I believe I can still accurately review the formula. I picked this because I thought the name was cute being a Capricorn myself – the shade itself is definitely a browner shade than I’d usually purchase for myself but this actually wasn’t bad! Very pigmented, comfortable and non-sticky – I really do recommend this formula!

Strobe Highlighter  – the highlighter I’ve linked is different to this as it appears to have since sold out again! I think this is a beautiful formula – a little powdery with some decent kickback in the pan but it really blends into the skin nicely and doesn’t emphasise texture. That being said – this particular shade just wasn’t for me, but I love the formula and still recommend.

Re-Loaded Palette in Iconic Fever – I wasn’t expecting a lot of this eyeshadow palette but I was extremely impressed with the quality! Whilst some shades need a little more building up than others and one of the shimmer shades was fairly chunky with the glitter this was all around an AMAZING eyeshadow palette for the little old price of $7! You’ll see from the swatches the incredible value for money in this palette – absolutely blew me out of the park for the price!

Awesome Lash Mascara – this is quite possibly my new favourite mascara! It has a really thick and easy to use wand and the formula is really beautiful. It doesn’t smudge onto my upper or lower lids throughout the day and the formula really holds its effect. It lengthens and adds volume and colour to my lashes – if you only get one thing, get this!

Pro E101 Eyeshadow Brush – the smallest eyeshadow brush I own, this immediately has become my go-to inner corner highlight brush. It doesn’t quite have the soft bristles of my favourite Sigma and Zoeva brushes but it absolutely does the job and I love it!

Swatches bottom – top : Foundation in F2, Concealer in C3, Highlighter, Lipstick, Lipgloss

Eyeshadow swatches.

Overall – considering how much I got and how little I paid I’m really impressed with my first experience with Makeup Revolution! For sure my favourite products are the concealer and the mascara – and my least favourite would obviously be the foundation and the highlighter for the reasons above!

I think that you couldn’t really go too wrong with an order from Makeup Revolution! Their shipping is $2.95 to Australia (unheard of!) or free over $50 which is an absolute bargain! Have you tried anything from the brand?

Ok I love the sound of the concealer! I didn’t like the Shape Tape because of the consistency, so I feel like this would be perfect!

It’s really nice! I am not sure if it has quite the level of coverage that Shape Tape has (purely because I haven’t used it in the longest time because it’s too light!) but it’s definitely buildable and so much cheaper!

A little less designer than your usual style but I’d love to see what you thought of the products compared with what you’re used to! It is a gorgeous palette!
