A couple of weeks ago now I was surprised with a package from Mecca containing some new release products. Amongst the items were four new products released from Korres – a brand that I’m fairly sure I’ve never tried anything from in the past. Needless to say I was quite excited and got into testing them out almost immediately.
Korres is a predominantly skincare brand (that now also has makeup and haircare items) founded in Greece with the philosophy of using high quality organic ingredients in their product. The brand states that they are “inspired by the most powerful natural ingredients and traditions of Greece… combined with science, Korres delivers clinically proven results” – so I was pretty down to try!
I received four products from their newly launched (in Australia) Pure Greek Olive range – the Shampoo, Conditioner, Hair Mask and Body Balm. Each of these products has olive oil as their hero ingredient to allow for improved moisture and elasticity in hair and skin and providing antioxidants protection. Each product in the range retails for between $20-$30 which is a fairly reasonable price !
The first product tested is the Pure Greek Olive Nourishing Shampoo* retailing for $25. I was initially nervous about this because while the majority of my hair is dry/damaged thanks to bleach, my ‘virgin’ hair at my roots has a tendency to get oily quite quickly and I often have problems when shampoos contain oils. I was very conscious of this the first time I used it and I noticed my hair got oily quite quickly – however I was also touching my hair quite a lot to see how it was going. Usually after one try and oiliness I’d ‘trash’ the product but knowing it was quite possibly mostly my fault I gave it another chance – and looks like it was my fault! I can get 2-3 days out of this before my hair needs a wash again which is fairly common for my hair. I make sure to really wash it out and try to not get any other products at my roots and it really does leave my hair feeling really nice and soft. I do really struggle with that so I was quite impressed !
The complimentary Pure Greek Olive Nourishing Conditioner* retails for $27 – I never understand why brands often price shampoos and conditioners differently! I’ve discussed in previous posts how I often tend to either just use a hair mask or use a conditioner combined with an oil because I find that a lot of conditioners don’t tend to ‘last’ in my hair – the ends seem to get dry and scraggly by the second day. I definitely haven’t noticed this with this conditioner, in fact I feel confident using it by itself. The one thing I find with this is that when my hair dries it is a lot knottier than when I use other products. On the website it is described as being perfect for ‘normal to dry hair types’ and I’d be inclined to agree with that – it’s just not 100% perfect with my level of damage.
What is, however, is the Pure Greek Olive Nourishing Hair Mask* that retails for $28. It is described as being ‘perfect for stressed hair in need of some TLC’ and having ‘a super powdered dose of antioxidants and hydration in a quick and easy hair mask to turn around lacklustre hair in an instant’. I’ve really been liking this hair mask. I notice a real difference between using the conditioner (which really isn’t bad, just not suited for me!) and using this mask. My hair just feels soft, looks soft and healthy and hydrated and all the things that I want my hair to look like. I’ve had compliments with how healthy my hair looks after using this – and that’s not something I’ve had for a LONG time. If you’re going to grab one haircare item from this range this is an absolute killer and I highly recommend.
The last product I have from the range is the Pure Greek Olive Blossom Body Balsam* (Balm) that retails for $29. It is described as being rich, nourishing and ultra gentle. It had a mixture of olive oil, olive blossom and shea butter as well as coconut, almond and avocado oils – basically all the super popular hydrating and moisturising skincare ingredients you could ever really want or need. And it really does do a mighty fine job! I have had very dry skin all over my body for as long as I can remember and it is incredibly rare that I find a product that can stop my skin from looking scaly for a full 24 hours – let alone longer than that. This has done it for me – I can almost stretch a full 48 hours before my skin desperately needs something on it which is so hard to come across. This is by far my favourite product from the range and one that even though the price tag is pretty significant (for a small 125ml of product) I will repurchase and continue to do so for a very long time.
I’m so very glad to have had my first introduction to Korres products – and that it has been this range! These are definitely something I wouldn’t have really thought about purchasing in-store or online yet I’m really glad I’ve had the chance to trial – I’ve found a really incredible hair mask and moisturiser out of it and I do still quite like the shampoo and conditioner as well. A range I definitely recommend trying out!
I love my Korres lip butters! The mask from this range sounds wonderful, I’ll have to check it out!
