Inika Organic are an Australian owned, Vegan, Cruelty Free and Certified Organic company specialising in all things makeup and beauty. I have tried a few things from Inika in the past and so this holiday season I’ve picked up the Limited Edition Ultimate Glow* collection to trial and review for you all.
The Ultimate Glow collection retails for $129AUD with an advertised value of over $221AUD. Available in five shades the collection contains their Certified Organic Liquid Foundation (full size), their Certified Organic BB Cream (trial size), their Baked Illuminiser in Dew Drop (full size) and a Limited Edition Bamboo Handle Foundation brush as well as their cult-favourite Long Lash Mascara. It’s all housed in a cute little makeup bag too!
I won’t talk too much about their Long Lash Mascara – I have featured it and spoken about it on Instagram many times as well as including it in my June Favourites and October Empties posts. It is one of my absolute favourite mascaras of all times for how it lengthens and adds volume to my baby blonde eyelashes!
The next two products are their complexion products – the Certified Organic Liquid Foundation and Certified Organic BB Cream. I picked this collection in the shade Cream, their lightest shade specified for ‘fair skintones’. I wouldn’t call myself Casper the Ghost but I definitely fall firmly into the fair/pale category and I’ll be upfront in saying that both of these shades are too dark for me. They’re more my tanned shades and that’s something to take into account when contemplating purchasing this little kit. I have still tested both products to have reviews on them for you – starting with swatches below alongside some of my more common foundation matches.
Swatches top – bottom: Inika Foundation in Cream, Urban Decay Naked Skin in 1.0, Revlon Colorstay in 150, Inika BB Cream in Cream, Too Faced Peach Perfect in Swan. As you can tell from these they are both a shade or two darker than what I’d usually wear. I can get away with wearing these if they are blended quite far down my neck – but when I have a little more colour to me these will work beautifully. If you’re any lighter than me though I couldn’t consciously recommend these shades.
For me, the Certified Organic Liquid Foundation required two full pumps to give my face a nice medium coverage. The foundation felt quite tacky after application but settled down after some powder on top and didn’t transfer onto clothing. There’s no denying that the shade is too dark for me so it’s something I was only able to trial on days I wasn’t leaving the house but it is a really nice foundation. It doesn’t look cakey and instead gives your skin a radiant glow throughout the day. It lasted quite well on me overall – it did break up on my nose due to its oily nature but it didn’t slide off which is a good sign. If you’ve got normal-combination skin this is one for you.
The Certified Organic BB Cream performed similarly for me, but with a much lighter coverage. I feel like I used a lot to build up the coverage – I’m not the biggest BB cream lover so that definitely is why. I again do recommend this as I do with the foundation if you’re someone who prefers a barely there coverage.
I’m not the biggest brush person when it comes to applying foundation but I have given this a go with the Inika products and with my other usual foundations. It is really good for spreading out the product across the face but for peace of mind I always quickly bounce over the base with my BeautyBlender to make sure there aren’t any streaks or patches. It is a really soft, dense foundation brush and one that I know so many of you foundation brush users will absolutely love!
The Baked Illuminser in Dew Drop appears in the pan and swatched as a deep, dark golden toned highlighter. I’m happy to report that on the cheeks it blends in nicely and doesn’t appear quite so harshly on my fair skin. I find a lot of highlighting products like this tend to leave a ‘stripe’ across my cheek until the light hits it but I haven’t found this to be the case at all. It doesn’t emphasise any of the texture on my cheeks and is a natural highlight that can be buildable into the more blinding glow that I personally prefer.
While the shades in Cream may not be suited to anyone around my skintone, I still believe that this pack is excellent value and would make a great Christmas gift for any beauty lover out there. I’d recommend finding a stockist and trying the shades in person before purchasing because the small shade range makes it difficult to match online. Available online from Inika and at stockists – while stocks last.
Those shades are too fair for my skin tone too. This could work as a highlighter for me.
Oh you’re so lucky! Being so pale is a struggle sometimes haha
I hadn’t heard of Inika before. Their products look very nice, the foundation and bb cream look so smooth in the swatches. The highlighter is a gorgeous colour as well.
It’s a really beautiful brand – definitely recommend !
I think my daughter would love this gift set. She loves makeup and has been on a “highlighting” kick lately.
Ooh she would love it then!
I love this collection makeup can be a good Christmas gift. I like how new cruelty free brands have come up never heard of Inika before.
