Huda Beauty Mauve Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette | Swatch and Review

It was love at first sight when I first laid eyes on the Mauve Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette from Huda Beauty. I hadn’t tried any of her eyeshadows previously and thought this was the perfect time to be able to give them a go without investing in a full palette! I purchased this from Cult Beauty a month or so ago and finally decided to test it out after staring at how pretty it is!

The packaging is super cute on the outside – it also came with a plastic sleeve which kept it all together. I love the black and I love the shape and texture that the shadows are defined like – I just think it’s beautiful. It’s a very small palette – it fits in the size of my palm.

The palette contains 9 eyeshadows – 6 matte, 1 shimmer and 2 glitter shades. I think the shade selection is really nice and wearable for a variety of skin tones.

One thing I’ll point out from the swatches – the two glitter shades swatch beautifully with the finger but not at all with a brush – it needs to be applied to the lid with a finger.

I do really quite like this palette. The matte shades blend beautifully and sit nicely on my eyelids – they don’t at all accentuate any dryness like some shadows do. The shimmer shade (second from bottom in the swatch photo) is gorgeous – a perfect amount of pigmentation or a foiled effect with a quick spritz of setting spray.

What lets the palette down for me is the glitter shades. Don’t get me wrong – they are STUNNING and the light pink gives me all sorts of feels. But I just don’t like the fact that you need to apply them with your finger to get pigmentation. To me, that’s honestly an annoying step and I wish it wasn’t that way. The effect is absolutely worth it but I just wish I didn’t need to do that because I prefer just to keep it simple !

I definitely think this palette is worth picking up – just keep in mind to use a finger with the glitter and you’ll be perfectly fine with it. It’s a wonderful first introduction to Huda’s eyeshadows – it makes me want the Desert Dusk palette even more!

This palette is so beautiful! So frustrating that you have to apply it with your fingers :/

It’s beautiful but slightly impractical for me!

Finally a review that talks about the glitter shades!
I got the palette as a gift but when i tried it on, there was no glitter pigment on the brush whatsoever.

Oh well, I don’t mind glittery fingers, but it would’ve been nice if the palette had better glitter application.

Haha yes! I couldn’t really find any either – which is why I shared mine ! So important to me to be 100% honest and open with all of my reviews and this was something that really struck me about the palette! I am too clumsy of a human to have glitter fingers – it ends up everywhere!
