My final semester of university starts today, and if there’s one thing I’ve learnt during my time of study it’s that there’s no such thing as enough sleep if you work as well! I wear makeup most of the time to uni because it evens out my skintone – here are my top tips to faking a good night’s sleep so you appear well rested and ready for the day!
Lighter coverage – I find that when my body is tired and it’s reflected in my skin that a fuller coverage foundation just makes it look worse, so a lighter coverage base combined with a powder with coverage is my best friend! I’ve been loving the First Aid Beauty Skin Tint in Fair* recently (review coming this week) combined with either Mac’s Studio Fix or Marc Jacobs foundation powders to add some lighter coverage.
Hide the under-eyes – like most people, my under eye area gets DARK when I haven’t had enough sleep, so coverage is key! A brightening peach under eye corrector like the Pixi Brightening Corrector* helps to neutralise the colour under the eye, and a fuller coverage concealer like the Bare Minerals Bareskin Concealer (the Tarte Shape Tape works well too) helps to hide the tiredness!
Add some glow – I’m a girl who loves Highlight at the best of time, but a lit from within look works best when I’m lacking in sleep. I recommend either an illuminating Primer or a liquid highlight (I’ve been using this Rimmel Good to Go in Soho Glow* recently and I’ve been loving it!) to add some luminosity to the skin. I then recommend using products that are more glowing than matte – the Too Faced Sweethearts Blush is a perfect example of this!
Basic Eyes – a basic eye look is key to faking a good night’s sleep – the more colour and complexity you add to the eyes the more attention you draw to them, so a simple brown in the crease with a gorgeous shimmer such as Stila’s Kitten is the perfect combination to have something there, whilst not making them stand out too much. I’d also recommend avoiding eyeliner, instead opting for a nude one such as the Rimmel Scandaleyes in Nude is great for brightening the lower lash line which helps to give the effect of widened eyes.
