Happy New Year! 2018 Goals

Happiest of New Year’s to you all! I’m excited for 2018 – I’m starting everything completely from scratch and am feeling refreshed and reenergised and ready to finally make this year my year !

I’m usually one to have the standard New Year’s resolutions that fail fairly early on into the year, so this year I decided to set a few little goals with my future health and happiness in mind that I think are completely achievable – and naturally to keep myself accountable I’m publishing them here so you all can see them!

Leave the house each and every day – this may sound silly to a lot of you, but sometimes I really absolutely struggle to even leave the house – anxiety is the absolute damn worst, and I know not leaving the house is just making my mental health worse overall. This year I want to step outside at least once each day – whether it’s a walk to get coffee, a trip to the supermarket or even to bring my bins down – take some time to actually get myself together and enjoy some fresh air. I know this will do wonders for me! (Totally fine to avoid if I’m sick, but every other day there’s no excuses!)

Keep up with a regular gym routine – I’m terrible for setting gym targets and not sticking to them, so I want to be realistic this year. My current gym routine is working well for me while I’m not at work, but I do hope to be gainfully employed in the very near future and I know adapting to a new gym routine might be a little difficult – so I’m aiming to get myself together and work out something new! For now, I go 3-4 evenings a week and once during the day of a Friday, and I’d like to add in a weekend day if I am able to !

Cook more – this past year I’ve definitely fallen into the pre-packaged/takeaway food routine more than I’d care to admit, and I want to start trying new healthy recipes and finding things that stick! I’m a very plain eater and there’s a lot of ingredients I don’t enjoy/my body doesn’t like so it’ll be interesting finding enough to change it up, but I’m so excited to try! I want to stick away from the ham wraps for lunch and the (healthy) fried rice and stir fries/cruskits (ssh) for dinner and play with some new things ! I now have a slow cooker in my life which I think will definitely help!

Buy less makeup, and experiment more with what I have – I know, I know – I buy too much makeup! New things give me joy and I love having items to test out and share with you guys. My budget just isn’t what it once was, and when I am working again my goal is to save as much as possible to put towards purchasing a house (hopefully in the next 12-18 months) so I need to be smarter about what I buy, and purchase less overall! I’m also very stuck in my routine with what I wear on an everyday basis and I want to experiment more with colour, with lipstick shades and with more liquid/cream products. I want to finally feel confident in what I can create – hopefully enough to share some looks with you guys, not just the products.

Be more mindful, more reflective and more grateful – I know I have my own issues and insecurities (as does everyone) but this year I want to be more grateful for the things I do have, reflective upon changes and places to go and overall be more mindful – of myself and my health, of others and of the world around me. I want to really be able to make 2018 a truly positive year of change and happiness in my life and I know that this will really assist me in achieving this goal.

    I love these goals!! I really want to try and use more of the make up I have as well. Try and not buy things until I run out of something. Less is more I guess! Also cooking, especially when it comes to making lunches, I am hopeless at trying to make sure I always have lunches, but I need to get better!

      Thanks girl! I’m interested to see just how well I’ll do on the makeup buying side of things – I’m a sucker for a good new release ! I’m worse with dinners than lunches – I need to stop living off of protein shakes and 2 Minute noodles ! haha x

    I love reading other people’s goals for 2018. It’s amazing how so many of us have similar goals re regular exercise, cooking more healthy food, buying less, decluttering and using more of what we have.

    Hopefully by posting regular updates we will all be able to keep each other on track with our goals.

    I’m also aiming to buy less makeup and use up what I have (which is way too much, similarly!). Good Luck with your goals!
