When I received an email inviting me to the Hobart Franck Provost salon, I knew it was an opportunity I’d be silly to pass up. I’d walked past the salon a few times since their opening (they are directly opposite Priceline, after all!) and I was definitely intrigued.
Let’s just say, I was 100% impressed!
I walked in and was immediately welcomed by the lovely Vanessa, the Hobart salon manager. She introduced me to Sammie, one of their Senior Stylists, who was to do my hair. We sat and had a consultation, where we discussed the condition of my hair and what I was after – essentially a refresh of my colour. We had a look through the L’Oreal Professionel colour book, and she showed me some of her previous work, and found a colour we both thought would suit me perfectly.
This is the before shot of what Sammie had to deal with – I feel sorry for her! I hadn’t realised that my colour had gotten that out of home, and honestly felt a bit ashamed that I’d been walking around in public like that!
Apart from two (not so great) occasions, I’ve attended the same local salon for 12.5 years, so to say I was nervous to go somewhere new is an understatement, but I’m so impressed by the service and professionalism I experienced. Offers of coffee, tea or bubbles (at 3pm in the afternoon) lollies and magazines – I had the feeling that nothing would have been to big to ask of them.
I had the colours mixed with Olaplex, something I’ve had used on my hair for my last few colour sessions, and Sammie applied it all freehand. We decided to lighten the top of my hair so it blended better with my natural colour and soften the colour on my ends, creating an even blend of the shades.
Once that had been lightened, I was led to the sinks for the next steps. The seats at the sink are worth a mention – they even had a foot rest! Let’s just say that with Sammie’s head massage, and the fact that I’d been awake since 4am, I was so comfortable and almost fell asleep. My hair was washed, then toned and washed again, and then the treatment process began.
Sammie used the Kerastase Therapiste line for dry and damaged hair to treat my hair. Firstly shampooing with the Bain Therapiste Balm-In-Shampoo to cleanse my hair from the toner, and then created a toner from the shampoo, the Masque Force Architecte and the Serum Therapiste Dual Treatment. She explained that the shampoo opened the hair follicles, allowing for the mask to treat my hair more intensely and that the serum complimented that.
My hair was then rinsed, had just the mask applied and then I was lead to have my hair dried, trimmed and styled. The serum was used on my hair multiple times – it’s an oil and cream duo that helps to repair and reinforce the hair fibre and help it regain strength and elasticity. It’s a product Sammie said she’d been using for over a year and recommended, and I ended up purchasing the shampoo, matching conditioner and serum to use in my hair at home because it felt so soft!
The difference between the before and after is amazing! I showed a few friends the after photo, and then the before photo and they couldn’t really believe it! I absolutely love how it turned out, no matter how I’ve styled it since it still looks gorgeous! My hair is in excellent condition, the colour blends seamlessly and it looks so much healthier! Sadly, none of the photos really do the end result justice – it’s 100 times better in person!
I’ve been using the serum a few times a day as Sammie suggested, and I’ll definitely purchase the mask when my spending ban is up! (I sneakily used some Christmas money to buy the other products, ssh!) I haven’t started using the shampoo or conditioner yet because I want to finish what I’m already using, but I can’t wait to see how it works for me on a long term basis – it is an investment after all! I also happened to go in on International Women’s Day, and was provided with a complimentary Franck Provost bangle, as were all female clients Australia wide on the day – which I thought was a lovely touch!
While I won’t need my colour touched up for a while now, I’m eagerly anticipating my next trip to the salon! I had been to the same place ever since I moved to Hobart as a child, but I think I’ve found my new go-to salon!
