I thought it was about time I shared with you my morning skincare routine! I’ve shared my evening routine a few months back (linked here) which is relatively unchanged but it’s time to chat my morning skincare! For reference I have combination skin – a nose oilier than a deep fryer and normal/dehydrated everywhere else.
I prefer my morning routine to be as simple as possible – I’m quite regularly underslept and running somewhat later than I’d like to so the littler the fuss the better! I have two ‘versions’ of my morning skincare routine – days where I am wearing makeup and days that I’m not. They differ for various reasons – which is where we now get into the fun stuff!
The first two steps are ALWAYS the same – remove any excess product residue from the night before/freshen the face with my micellar water. I’m currently using the L’Oreal Micellar Water for Normal/Combination Skin and it is a fantastic product that’s scent free and gentle on my skin – this needs to be talked about more! I then always tone my skin right away – my toner of choice these days is the Bioderma Sensiblio Tonique Soothing Moisturising Toning Lotion – doesn’t it just sound amazing from the name? It’s another really nice, gentle product that doesn’t leave my skin feeling super tight afterwards which, being dehydrated at the best of times, I love. I also go for eye cream (of course!) and the one I’m currently using is the La Roche-Posay Toleriane Ultra* – I have one used this once twice at time of writing so no thoughts as yet!
Here’s where we get different.
MAKEUP DAYS – After toner, I’ll spray a little of the Cinch Skin Face Cheat* which is a multi-purpose product that I personally choose to use as a moisturiser. I’ll lightly rub/tap that into my skin and leave it to absorb for about thirty seconds. Next I’ll go in with the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion because it’s the best I’ve found so far that sits underneath makeup well throughout the day – no balling up with this guy!
MAKEUP FREE DAYS – For makeup free days I like to do a little more for my skin. I’ll add in the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo+ in place of a serum. This product really helped me clear up a nasty skin reaction a year or so back and I’ve used it daily since. I’m honestly not entirely sure if it does anything for me nowadays but it’s a staple regardless. I find this tends to ball up under any primer/foundation I’ve ever tried so I don’t recommend for that purpose. I’ll often go in still with the Cinch Skin Face Cheat* but to be completely honest, these are the days where I’m usually super lazy and tired and I often forget! I’ll then use the Philosophy Renewed Hope in a Jar Dry* over the top. This is a really lightweight and fast absorbing moisturiser but I find as well this balls up under anything I’ve put on top – skincare or makeup. And yes, that’s tested of course without the LRP product – so this would be another really amazing night cream!
I am a lipbalm fiend with dry and deep lined lips – but you’ve read me complain about that numerous times I know! So of course I then go in with lipbalm. I have about five different balms open at any one time scattered throughout my house (I am well aware of my level of ridiculousness, don’t worry!) and the one in my bathroom is the La-Roche Posay Cicaplast Barrier Balm. Another product I’ve only used twice at this stage but I know that the Barrier Hand Cream from LRP is amazing (and I often use it of a morning too) so I have high high hopes!
And then I’m off and ready to go for the day! I’d love to know what you’re using if you’ve got similar skin to me or your thoughts on any of these products – I am always so fascinated to see how my favourites work on others!
I love reading skin care routines!!!
Haha well I hope you enjoyed! x
I love using the Bioderma Sensiblio range, currently I have a mixture/cocktail of products I use on the daily. I love mixing it up 🙂
Isn’t the range wonderful! I tend to mix up only in two ways with my skincare – my makeup is a whole different story!!
Cinch Skin Face Cheatis my fav
Isn’t it so easy to use!
I loveee the Cinch Face Cheat! On lazy days I will just use it as my Moisturiser and then go with make up or not, it’s so good!

My skin (and my entire body tbh) is way too dehydrated to just use it alone but I wish it was! I love the novelty of spraying my products!
Loving your routine! I love the Cinch Skin Face Cheat, it’s such a versatile and handy product especially when on the go!
Thanks lovely! It is definitely a great multi-tasker – if only my skin wasn’t so dehydrated I could use just this for travel!
My morning routine this morning; rub face really hard to try and get rid of pillow crease.
Me 110%! After the craziness of the last two days travelling and running around in Sydney and the event I woke up feeling like I’d been hit by a truck – and looking like it too it seems as the barista gave me a free extra shot “because you look tired” – and that’s after four layers of concealer…. is it nap time yet?
The LRP Effaclar duo is such a staple in my skincare routine! I love it so much for keeping my texture under conrol.
This is such nice morning skincare routine, the products look great. I have combination skin prone to congestion and have been wanting to try La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo+.
Thanks Preet! I definitely have similar skin and highly recommend the LRP Duo!! It’s made the world of difference to my skin texture.
