Every so often, I come to the realisation that I have a routine and rotation of products that I’ve stuck with for months. When I find a product or combination that I like and works I tend to stick with it, and every so often when I have these realisations I’m going to start sharing with you what works and what I love!
[Side Note: I currently have a Feedback survey open which is linked here. I would love if you shared some feedback with me – there’s also a sneaky giveaway involved! Closes in a month]
For the record – at this current time my skin would definitely be classed as combination – my cheeks are normal-dry and my nose quite oily, I do have some enlarged pores around my t-zone as well!
I’ve been loving using the Smashbox Primer Water to start off my base for the day. After moisturising, I spritz this all over my face to add an extra hint of moisturiser before starting the rest of my primer routine. I don’t know why I don’t use it by itself as a primer, but it works really well this way and I love it!
For my pores, I use the Benefit Prefessional Pro Balm* to minimise their appearance, it helps to blur and fill the pores and I don’t notice them as much throughout the day – occasionally I do use it to touch up, but it’s a rare occasion.
Under the eyes, I use the Smashbox Photo Finish Hydrating Under Eye Primer. I got this originally in a Christmas pack that Smashbox brought out, but I’ve since repurchased – my under eye makeup applies a lot smoother and lasts a lot longer when I use it!
I’ve also been loving the Urban Decay Naked Skin Color Correcting Fluid in Peach for my under eye circles – it has a doe foot applicator and an easily blendable consistency, I’m a real fan of using this product every day because it is just so easy to use!
For foundation, to my regular readers it’ll come as no surprise to you that my favourite is the Revlon Colorstay Normal/Dry. I adore this foundation, it gives the perfect medium (buildable to full) coverage that I love on a daily basis, and lasts all day. It does tend to get oilier during the day around my nose area, which can be combatted by blotting – I will add that my foundation lasts the longest on my nose than any others that I’ve tried recently!
An everyday staple for me is the Becca Cosmetics Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Moonstone. Something about this highlighter has captured my heart and soul, it is the most perfect and gorgeous highlight shade for my pale skin – pigmented, blendable and a lightish glow with a golden tinge, it really compliments my skintone and lasts all day. I rarely go for anything else. It was a surprise gift from my partner about a year ago, and I’ve hardly used anything else since!
For brows, I love using the Benefit Cosmetics Gimme Brow in Light/Medium to add some definition to my brows. Some days I use just this product, some days I use it to set my brows and others to add a little bit of texture, depending on what I’m doing and what other makeup I’m wearing that day. It adds a hint of a tint, and has little fibres that create a fuller effect on the brows, and also works well to hold my brow hairs in place all day – it’s a little miracle worker and I absolutely love it! I am in need of a new one, but am holding out for Benefit’s new releases in case their new shade is a better match for me!
Something that I also rely on daily that doesn’t get a lot of hype is the Urban Decay Subversion Eyelash Primer. I use this daily on my eyelashes before applying mascara, and find that my lashes are longer and more defined. I’ve also noticed a difference in the length of my lashes since I started using this product for the first time over a year ago – they’re definitely longer and look a lot healthier! It’s not available in Australia, but is something I always like to order a backup of when I’m ordering from America – it’s such a fantastic product!
Everything else tends to change on a daily basis, dependent on what my skin needs (with regards to primer/concealer) and what sort of blush/bronzer combination I want to use and eye/lip look that I plan. These guys however are my staples and go-to products, I’ve been using them consistently over the last few months and highly recommend them!
