Cloud 9 Hair Straightener – Worth the Hype/Price? | Full Before & After + Next Day Review

Very recently, my trusty hair straightener gave its last performance – so I needed to get a new one ASAP! I’d heard so much about the Cloud 9 brand, and picked up their Hair Straightener almost immediately from Adore Beauty. Their normal straighteners retail for $279 (they were out of stock so I had to purchase a limited edition colour for $299). I ordered at 10am, paid for express shipping and it was at my door the next morning – very impressed !

The version I purchased was the Midas Gold – the only difference between this and the normal straightener is the little gold details – but as I said, I was desperate so paid that little bit more! The box it came in was absolutely gorgeous, and it also came with a hair brush, some clips and travel accsssories – very impressed!

The true test of a hair straightener is how well it works. My old straightener took about 10 minutes to fully straighten my hair as I had to go over most sections at least twice to keep it straight.

This is the ‘before’ shot – with my hair air dried after a shower and brushed out. Note the craziness in how the hair falls on my back, and please ignore the colour – I’m getting that fixed next month!

After this photo was taken, I went downstairs to the bathroom and turned on the Cloud 9 to heat up for use. I turned it up to 200 degrees which is what I always use on my hair, and used heat protectant as per usual. The moment I turned the straightener on I set the timer on my phone to see how long it took.

The after – I kid you not, in 3 minutes and 44 seconds my hair went from the before to the after. I was so incredibly impressed! There were perhaps one or two very small sections of hair that I had to go over again right at the ends, but the straightener seemed to effortlessly glide through my hair and take no time at all!

I was really impressed with how my hair looked, but my problems with previous straighteners is that my hair goes frizzy/curly the moment I’m caught in the rain. And not to mention the waviness I get with second day hair!

I’m so incredibly pleased to report that I got caught walking home from uni in the rain and my hair was not affected in the slightest – I was blown away when I got home and looked in the mirror!

The first ‘after’ photo was taken late Friday evening, and this after photo was taken Sunday afternoon before I was about to wash it again – I apologise for its grossness! During this time I’d had it in both a bun and a ponytail, sat driving in a car for 8 hours and slept on it twice. For my hair to only at the ends to be just starting to curl up is almost a miracle, and I’m so impressed!

Is the Cloud 9 straightener worth the price? To me, who’s tried a straightening product from basically every price bracket imaginable, this is the most expensive I’ve used and by far has done the best job – so I’m saying yes! Is it worth the hype to me? Incredibly so, I wish I’d caved and invested in one sooner! I definitely recommend picking one of these babies up – they’re fantastic !

I love my Cloud 9 hair straightener. A well worth it investment especially after having the old school GDH for many years (then the cat chewed the cable). Your hair looks beautiful!

I’ve been wanting to try a Cloud Nine straightener for years (even though I don’t do anything with my hair aside from occasionally blow-drying it), so to see that you had such good results is another tick for the brand in my eyes. Your hair looks great!

I don’t use a dryer on my hair – probably why it’s so crazy! I know that I’d prefer to straighten over blow dry so I try to limit the heat damage to just one thing! Totally worth it, I’m still so happy with it!

YAY! I have always wanted to try a cloud 9 straightener! I have a GHD which works well, but once that goes I think I will test out this baby!
