You guys – this was a hard post to write! My tastes and personality have definitely changed this year and I am a lot more ‘minimal’ than I was. I am definitely still incredibly materialistic (some things never change) but my habits as a consumer have changed and now I truly think and research and save for products and am much more frugal with what I buy. Which, in turn, has made it so difficult to think of gifts that I want for Christmas and my birthday (December 30) this year. It took me so long to come up with the ‘few’ products on this list – this may be a lot for many people and not at all much for others. My wishlists are usually a lot longer but I’m going for quality over quantity in 2018.
I’m lucky enough to receive money as gifts from people like aunts/uncles (we don’t usually do gifts, but sometimes it happens) and my grandparents. It usually just sits in my account until I find something I want but this year I have two things in mind that I want to put the funds towards. My MacBook Air is almost six years old and starting to slowly combust internally and getting a new one is something that I’m needing to do but I swear – they weren’t that expensive when I got mine early 2013! I’m also in need of a new pair of gym shoes – my Asics are falling apart (that I use for cardio days) and my Nike shoes (that I use for weights days/to pilates) are completely worn down on the bottom and an honest hazard to use on rainy days so I’m also hoping to put money towards some new shoes – I like these guys.
On the fitness theme still – I have been doing classes at KX Pilates since August and it’s a workout class that I have found really works for me in terms of mental clarity, concentration and toning. They sell their own grip socks and I’ve started to notice that I struggle with my feet gripping sometimes so this is a practical gift that I know I will use multiple times a week. I already know I am getting these and can’t wait!
Something else that I know I’m getting is the Howlite Charm Bracelet from Francesca. A locally-made jewellery brand, I’ve been eyeing off one of their pieces for the longest time and I recently went into their Hobart Flagship store and picked out this beautiful bracelet. I was drawn to how it looked but the description that it is the stone of awareness and decreasing stress sounds like something I need. I’m not sure I necessarily believe in it but it absolutely can’t hurt. I’ve also added the cutest little Star Charm to pair with the signature charm it comes with because the description is ‘Wherever you go, a star is watching over you”. I am an absolute sucker and a marketer’s dream girl but symbolism of the stars is something my great-grandmother used to tell me about and I think it is absolutely beautiful.
Another gift that I know I’m getting (I hate surprises, honestly) are the Apple AirPods! I started thinking about my wishlist in June and finally came up with this in October to ask my father for – and then my silly bestie (who is the talented designer gal behind this pic send love her way) decided to buy them for me as a gift! After a lot of resistance from me I finally accepted it and am so beyond excited and grateful for the flexibility and fun this will give me.
If you don’t follow me on Instagram (shameless self promo alert) you wouldn’t see my Instagram Stories about how much I make and bake sweet (and sometimes healthy) treats! I do it all by hand and I think it’s about time I trial out a Bench Mixer. I like this Kmart one because it’s affordable and the perfect introduction to see if I like the idea and will get enough use out of it to really justify having one.
And another gift I know I’m getting from my partner that has been on my wishlist for a really long time is the Viseart Tryst Eyeshadow Palette. It’s the only makeup gift I’ve asked for this Christmas/Birthday season and I picked this because I have wanted to try Viseart for a really long time and this palette contains colours that I can truly see myself using every single day.
I hate asking for ‘expensive’ gifts (aka over $100) from people because I’m much more of a giver than a receiver but I’ve also asked for this Mimco Modify Hip Bag. I’ve been looking for a bag similar in size (such as the Gucci Marmont Zip Bag in Small) but cannot justify the money for a bag that I will only use occasionally for weekends/nights out. I came across the Daydream Hip Bag from Mimco a little while ago but was introduced to the Modify range by the sales assistant at Mimco as a more flexible bag because it has softer leather. It fits all my ‘essentials’ with a little bit more room and I am so hoping Santa pops this guy under my tree.
Again, I’m a marketer’s dream girl – I have seen so many influencers advertising Snap Wireless and the idea of a wireless charging pad for my iPhone has really grown on me. I think it’ll just be so handy to charge my phone at work because it’ll make it so easy to pick up my phone if it rings and walk away to take the call without having to remove it from the cord. A petty complaint – but I’m all for convenience and making life easier and this looks perfect.
Last on my wishlist is the thin Gucci Double G Belt. I have wanted this for a really long time – I have needed a belt for months and have umm’d and ahh’d over this for a stupidly long period of time. It is a LOT of money for a belt but it is really high quality and something that I know I will still be able to wear in 20 years time. I prefer the thin version on me because I find that the ‘GG’ logo on the thicker belt just looks obnoxiously large compared to my body whereas the smaller one is more petite and can also be hidden a lot easier underneath tops if needed.
And that’s my wishlist for this year. A little bit ‘spoiled’ because I know I’m definitely getting some but I thought it’d be fun to share with you the things that I really like/want and a bit more into my personality behind the beauty posts!
I bought the thin Gucci belt in Italy this year, and I absolutely love it!! Definitely an investment piece, but I was in Italy and wanted something from a Italian designer house. It is a beautiful belt and can be worn with everything!!
Ahh I loved it when I got it – but had to return because it was damaged, so disappointing but I’ll have it again one day!
For my birthday, I always like to be spoiled with gifts its nice to do it at least once a year. I would like the Baking Bench Mixer.
Totally agree Luci! My birthday is so close to Christmas so it’s fun being so spoilt for a week – the mixer would be perfect for you x
I think it is pretty legit especially if it is Christmas AAand your birthday! I think this can be the best time to splurge on something you have been really wanting for a long time.
A five day window and it’s all over again haha. It’s the perfect time to do it !
How does that mixer compare to a kitchenaid mixer? I have a really old kitchenaid stand mixer that I got from CL used, so I don’t know much about other brands.
I haven’t used either unfortunately – but I do want to!
I’ve heard really good things about the Viseart eye shadow palettes. I’m quite curious and need to try out their formula. x

Yes so have I! I’m very excited to play with this in the new year.
A charging mat would definitely be a great thing to have! Would love not have to mess with a plug all of the time. Great picks!
