Beautylish Lucky Bag 2017

Beautylish’s Lucky Bag’s are a thing of wonder. Advertised each year for a varying price, they go off of a Japanese New Year tradition and each year for a certain price you get a small variety of items that are sold via Beautylish’s website – some bags, they say, are luckier than others!

The Beautylish Lucky Bag packaging is SO cute! This is my first time ordering anything from Beautylish and I love how well everything was wrapped, the large amount of padding and the cute personalised wrapping paper just for the Lucky Bag!

Inside as well is a tag explaining the tradition, and what to expect inside – beauty products to celebrate the start of 2017! These bags sell SUPER fast – what I’d recommend doing is heading to Beautylish’s website and signing up to their email list for 2018 and jumping on that email to grab it.

This year, each box was $75USD promising $150 USD+ in value. It was also $15USD shipping to Australia, which took about two weeks. Overall, I paid $130.02AUD for the contents of the box. Let’s dig in!

The first item I opened was the Becca Backlit Priming Filter. This item retails for $38USD ($52AUD on Adore Beauty) and is one of the more popular primers for drier, dull skin – or anyone wanting a healthy glow underneath their foundation. This is an item I already own, and love – I often wear it on no-makeup days over moisturiser if I’m leaving the house just for the glow! This I’ll be selling because I definitely don’t own two, but is something that I love so am counting this as a win!

Next item is the Wayne Goss 08 Brush. Retailing for $17USD (approximately $23AUD) Wayne’s brushes are sold exclusively through Beautylish and every Lucky Bag for 2017 that I’ve seen has contained one of his brushes. This brush is intended for precision, for natural brows with pomade or tightlining. I’ll be honest, I was hoping for a powder brush and I don’t think I’ll use this brush – but gosh it’s pretty!

The next item I opened was the last I opened, and I honestly squealed with excitement! The It Cosmetics Confidence in a Cream ($48USD on Beautylish, $68AUD at Sephora Australia) is something I’ve tried in a smaller size and loved, but balked at purchasing due to the expensive price at Sephora – I couldn’t justify almost $70 for a face cream, even if I did love the travel size! Now I have it and I am ridiculously happy about it!

Next item is the Natasha Denona Blush Duo in 14 Golden Coral. ($38USD on Beautylish, $55AUD on Beauty Bay) When I saw Natasha Denona products in people’s bags I’d really hoped to try her eyeshadows (they’re apparently incredible) so this blush duo was an initial disappointment. This is a gorgeous duo but sadly a bit too dark for me to get away with – this would be perfect though if the blush shade was slightly less bright pink because it’s the undertones that I love in a blush! It is crazily pigmented, definitely something I’d like to try in a different shade!

Next item I was happily surprised to see – a Small Z Palette! ($14USD on Beautylish, $15AUD on Beauty Bay) I love Z Palette’s and think the small ones are perfect for travel so I was really pleasantly surprised to see this one here! I have a small one already that I love and am happy to have a spare because who knows when I might need it!

The next and final item in my Beautylish Lucky Bag for 2017 is the Makeup Atelier 5 Eyeshadow Palette in Honey Brown. ($35USD on Beautylish, approx $48AUD) I’d honestly never heard of the brand before, so naturally was happily surprised to receive it. The palette I received is a gorgeous warm neutral palette with shades that are so ‘my’ kind of shades. I’ve only lightly swatched them (because I only received the package last night) but am really impressed by the shadows and can’t wait to try them out!

My Beautylish Lucky Bag 2017 value came in at $152USD – juuust over the promised $150! I paid $130.02AUD and received $261AUD in products so have also just doubled the worth of what I paid.

Would I recommend the Beautylish Lucky Bag for anyone tempted to buy in 2018? Yes absolutely! Whilst some of these items aren’t quite right for me,  they’re items that I already own and love or will sell to reinvest the money into another item I’d like to try – the items that I’ll keep for myself work out to $131AUD, so I’ve absolutely received value for my money here and then some.

Thanks Beautylish for an awesome bag, I cannot wait for next year’s!

I definitely got my money’s worth with items I’ll keep & will be up when I’ve sold on the items I won’t so I’m pretty happy overall! I think there is a bit of a difference with what they got hey, but overall I’m pretty happy with trying new things & that IT cosmetics Cream!
