The Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam Eyeshadow Palette was something that I wanted from the moment I saw it. It may have taken me a few weeks to purchase it, and a few weeks for me to try it when it first arrived. But let’s just say I haven’t put it down since!
The palette is a beautiful mix of 14 shimmer and matte eyeshadow shades. Some are more glittery and others more satin and the mattes are a great formula.
Quickly – if you have a moment to purchase the Amrezy x ABH Highlighter I highly recommend it! I picked it up at the same time as the palette and she is a beauty!
The top row of shades – as you can see the shimmers have a different mix in pigment – the two lighter ones are more of a traditional shimmer and the other two are thicker, slightly chunkier glittery shades.
The bottom row of shades are all more matte and satin shades with a lighter golden shade.
You’d all be surprised by the following – but I think I love the mattes more than the shimmers! My go-to eye look has been a mixture of the two browner matte shades and the one closest to the edge of the photo – Dusty Rose. Very occasionally I’ll add some shimmer to the eye, but my everyday look has been all matte and I am absolutely loving it!
In terms of eyeshadow quality, the strength and pigment of the matte shades are definitely the stand outs. They stay strong all day. The shimmers don’t stay as strong all day on the lid even with primer – but they also aren’t terrible. They just don’t stay extremely strong. Nonetheless they’re still good – just not the best I’ve ever used.
With that little minor negative aside, I wanted you all to know that I BLOODY LOVE THIS PALETTE. I haven’t used anything else in the last few weeks because even on my laziest of days it has what I need. It has all of the neutral shades that you’ll really ever need and absolutely more.
If you’re looking for a good neutral/every day/ easy to use/ work appropriate palette – or something that ticks any of those boxes this is the one for you. If you have a lot of neutral eyeshadow palettes this isn’t something that is really essential – but I’d suggest at least swatching it in Sephora and letting your heart decide…. you won’t regret buying this palette – but your bank account might!
