So if you’re an existing reader of my blog you’re probably wondering what on earth is going on right now. If you’re new here – hi!
I’ve been blogging for a while now and I kind of feel as if I outgrew my old blog. I created the website, the instagram and the email as a split second thing and didn’t really plan ahead with the name. I don’t think I necessarily thought I’d stay blogging so long and love it so much.
Whilst the old name was good, I felt really restricted to just post beauty related content and nothing else, whereas this one allows me to post about a variety of topics.
Don’t get me wrong, my blog will still be predominantly beauty as you’ve come to know, however I’ll be putting up some fashion posts, some lifestyle, some baking recipes and café reviews and hopefully some travel posts on those rare times I leave the house!
I chose the name ‘The Black and White Guide’ for a variety of reasons.
1. My name is Ebony, a type of black wood, hence the black. I’m naturally very fair and blonde, hence the white. A play on words, if you will.
2. I want to be very black and white with you. I want to be transparent, and for you to know my opinion. I don’t want you to finish reading a review and wonder what I really thought, I want you to know exactly what I think about something and want you to be confident in the fact that I’ll always be 100% honest and true about sharing my own opinion.
3. Not going to lie, I thought the name was kind of cute.
There’s a bunch of other reasons really, but the main two are there. I feel as if I’ve changed and matured so much since I began blogging and I wanted my site to reflect that. My theme is a simplistic black and white style, straight forward to navigate and an exact reflection of what I want it to be. Nothing over the top, just basic and simple. I never expected to be where I am and still blogging now, and the change reflects how far I’ve come on my journey, and how far I want to grow along with you all in my future.
Welcome, peruse, enjoy. More content will be uploaded regularly. I’ll still be sticking to my Monday, Wednesday and Friday previous upload schedule with extra posts wherever possible. I have even more inspiration flowing through me to write so expect an abundance of content over the upcoming time.
A special thank you has to go to Tine from Beautyholics Anonymous for her hard work in making this vision possible. She is not only an amazing blogger, but has been the woman getting this all done for me behind the scenes. We emailed back and forth for weeks, deciding on themes, buying the domain and hosting, setting it all up and bringing it to how it is now. She is an absolute gem and I owe her everything! If you’re as technically stupid as I am and wanting to set up a blog online I highly highly highly recommend checking her out – her details are here and she is so calm, patient and friendly – an absolute godsend. Thank you so much Tine, I could have never done this without you!
Such an exciting time for you Eb! Well done. I can’t wait to see what’s next for you and this beautiful blog of yours xx
