It’s the first Monday Musings post as The Black and White Guide, I’m so excited! There have been more than a few changes happening over on the blog and I really hope you’re liking it! I’ve noticed a drop in followers and views which is a little disheartening, but honestly what is to be expected with a change as big as this! I’m planning for new things this upcoming New Year!
Thank you for all your well wishes this past week. I’ve had some family issues going on, I haven’t been well, some bad news and my partner has had surgery. I’m feeling a bit better (damn heat doesn’t help!), the boy only had something minor done and is feeling miles better and everything else will get better in time! The love and support never goes unnoticed.
It’s this time of year that really reminds me how lucky I am. I spent the afternoon Friday with one of my really good friends and favourite people. We had lunch (at 4pm nonetheless), did a Christmas gift exchange (she spoilt me absolutely rotten) and went shopping – somehow I managed to try on and purchase a dress without having an anxiety attack – considering I almost did trying on shorts the other week it’s something I’d never thought would happen! She really just made me distracted for a little while and I haven’t felt happier in a long time! I’ve been spending more time with friends and family, and have really felt a shift in my overall happiness – I cannot wait for the future!
We’ve started planning our NZ trip! Just over three weeks until we head away, I’m honestly so excited! It feels like forever since we’ve been away! If there are any NZ girls from Wellington here that read my blog – PLEASE comment or email me (ebony@www.theblackandwhiteguide.com) places to go and things to see! We’re definitely going to head to the museum (Te Papa I think it is?), the zoo (my 21st gift to see the meerkats!) and shopping in Lower Hutt (fingers crossed for Christmas money!) but we’d love some input from locals to find any hidden gems or restaurants to spend some time! I’m getting more excited by the minute, I’ve never left Australia before and our trip is sure to be the relaxing getaway I desperately need right now!
How good is weekend parcel delivery?! I came home from work yesterday to parcels on my doorstep. Parcels. Delivered by Australia Post. On a Sunday!!!! Honestly I was way too excited haha, it was the best thing ever! On another parcel note – I’ve got my AusPost guy that delivers my parcels a little Christmas present, does anybody else do that? Sometimes he’s the only person I see all day, and we always have a little chat and he asks how I am, how my uni exams went etc – he’s just such a friendly guy and I thought it was the littlest thing I could do! I mean he is only doing his job, but I just have this feeling he’s so under appreciated!
On that note, I now have a P O Box! I felt like such an adult organising it all. I’ve been using my family one but kind of felt like I needed my own personal one! It’s for myself and my partner, but it’s also for blog stuff and things like that! As much as I love and feel comfortable and secure/private where I live, sometimes nobody’s home for 2-3 days at a time and there’s hot days and meltable products that get delivered to my house – I just feel a bit better knowing everything’s safe, locked up in air conditioning! Plus the suite where the PO Boxes are is so much nicer than the little outside bit at the other post office! If I’ve got anyone reading this – send me a postcard from wherever you are in the world if you can! I used to collect postcards as a kid and honestly I loved it and really want to start it up again! I have an empty wall near my desk and I’d love to stick them up! The address is GPO Box 427, Hobart, Tas 7001 – if you want to/can do it, include your return address and I’ll send one back! Let’s be penpals – I miss those days!
I’m so looking forward to this week! I worked yesterday, I’m going to do a couple of errands and some minor clothes shopping today (I’ve come to the conclusion that I need summer clothes asap, 30+ degrees and jeans is not my friend!), Tuesday is work and hopefully looking at Christmas lights at night, Wednesday I’m FINALLY getting my brows done (I decided to grow them out and reshape them but it’s been almost 8 weeks and I can’t handle it anymore) and my hair as well. Thursday I’m having lunch with the lovely Jacquelyn from Hey There Jacquelyn (babe is visiting me in Hobart, follow my snap ‘ebonymbc’ to see what we get up to!) and going out for dinner with my grandparents who are down, Friday is Christmas! Spending the day with various family and eating my weight in food, duh. Saturday is Boxing Day and I’m working for a few hours – spare a thought and be kind to us retail workers out there, it’ll be a busy day! Honestly so much is happening it’s insane. Then next week it’s my 21st!!! Weeeeee. So many adventures to be had before next year! (Which is SO foreign to say)
